Jhoan Sebastian Alfaro is a man with a passion for the glory of God. Jhoan was raised in Cherryville after emigrating with his missionary parents from Bogota, Colombia. Jhoan has helped lead and serve his home youth group at Iglesia Cristiana for over ten years. By God’s choosing, he is a product of our hometown traditions and programs. As a teenager, Jhoan participated in many extracurricular activities such as Marching Band Drum Major, JV baseball, and community clubs. Upon graduation, he was a recipient of multiple scholarships from this very community.
According to the goodness of our Father, Jhoan graduated from a private Christian college where he served as a residence assistant, school chaplain and youth-camp counselor. After three and a half years of studying, Jhoan earned a bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Ministries from Pensacola Christian College with a minor in Biblical Languages. He is currently completing a Masters of Divinity that has a concentration in counseling from Louisville, Kentucky’s Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jhoan is soon to embark on a master of arts from his alma mater as well.
Jhoan has no children, but he does have a dog named Buddy that he loves very much. Jhoan states, “I am young enough to know I do not know it all and experienced enough to know this is a calling like no other.” Jhoan’s life verse is Jeremiah 33:3 and it has never ceased to prove the mercies of our Lord and Savior.
